I can see this question creeping into the impeachment inquiry

"Have you now or have you ever been, a member of the "deep state?" Listening to testimony in the Impeachment Inquiry, it seems the people testifying are sincere, professional and patriotic. The term that Ambassador Taylor came up with that intrigued me was "regular and irregular channels" for communicating U.S. policy toward the Ukraine. While the practice is not unheard of, in this case, it is the elephant in the room. The concern of some State Department and other Federal employees about what they heard about Ukraine, has to be taken on its face, as genuine. Now, to the Deep State and how it factors in here. Trump is entirely convinced that the Deep State exists and that Deep Staters = Never Trumper. Career Government Employees are not to be trusted, as one doesn't know who is a "deep stater" and who isn't. If one of these employees gets pinned with the "Never Trumper" label, they are immediately suspected of being a "deep stater." Rudy Guiliani was doing the job of communicating to Ukraine what Trump really wanted; dirt on the Bidens and what would happen if they didn't deliver: no military aid. Guiliani, though, is certainly no expert in state or spy craft. He got false information and used it to smear a sitting U.S. Ambassador. But, if she's a "deep stater," then that's okay. Someone is going down here and I suspect that Giuliani, so far, tops the list of suspects. The question is whether or not he will "fall on his sword" for Trump and the great fight against the "deep state." I think not. Rudy will take Trump down, either through impeachment or resignation.
