My "bell weather" Chamber of Commerce repub brother speaks.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the General Discussion forum).

So, my brother is one of those economic Repubs but social liberals.
He’s not a bigot. Doesn’t hate gays or women or blacks, Hispanics, or Muslims.
He’s not really religious (goes to church on Xmas and Easter only). Basically an Agnostic.
Is pro choice on abortion.
He loves one thing and one thing only...it’s green. Money 💰.
He only wants lower taxes and fewer regulations and corporations free to run amok.

He hates and is embarassed by Trump but loves the stock market gains he is getting.
He doesn’t want to vote for Trump.
He wrote in Marco Rubios name in 2016.

I asked him what he thought of the Dem field.
Says his favorite is Tulsi Gabbard. He loves her.
Says he could vote for Bloomberg.
Says he might vote for Biden.
Says he has no interest in the rest of our field and probably wouldn’t vote or do a write in again if any of them are the nominee.
***unless the Dem nominee is Warren or Sanders,,, thinks they would both take his money,,,so said he will be “FORCED” to vote for Trump against Warren or Sanders.

Has anybody else asked some “supposed never Trumper” Repubs what they think of the Dem field? If so, I’d be interested to hear from you on this subject. Thanks, in advance.

But I hear that same theme from the Right wing people I come in contact with over and over .... that Warren and Sanders are left wing kooks who want to take all their money and give it to the undeserving (translation: the poor, immigrants, people of color, single mothers, etc.). They also are always complaining about burdensome taxes that go for the “common good” like for public schools.

My sib found trump odious but voted for him anyway for the sole reason that she thought he’d lower her taxes. (It didn’t happen). And she says Dems are “baby killers.”

I wonder why your brother loves Gabbard so much.

Any other Dem gets her vote. She rails all the time about their M4A policies. Even my daughter will not vote for Warren or Sanders in the primary and isn't sure what she would do if they are the general nominees against drumpf. I think she'd vote the right way, but she wouldn't be happy. Both like Biden, Klobuchar and Mayor Pete the best and would enthusiastically support any of them. Myself, I really like Warren and she's my #2 at this point.

Is it really about M4A or could it be some closet sexism or could it just be too much bashing of her on right wing and some mainstream media?
To me, like Hillary, I see Warren as extremely qualified for the job.
I’m lukewarm on M4A because I think the insurance lobby would make it awfully hard to get thru Congress.
But, we have to do something about income inequality and I believe that she would laser focus her efforts there.

She's a CPA, has always worked for big companies, and thinks Warren will drive moderates to vote Repug. She thinks M4A is dangerous. She does recognize drumpf as the bigger danger, and I'm working on her to be OK voting for Sen. Warren in the general if she's the nominee, but my sister is not quite there yet. Doing the same with my daughter, but she's more hard headed, lol.
