It looks like he went straight into the Ohio legislature and then to Congress.
Isnt that strange? Two graduate degrees but no work? Not even taken the bar exam? Why wouldnt you try at least, I wonder?
Who elects a congressman with no work experience?
He was assistant wrestling coach, or assistant abuse enabler. There was that.
Is this normal, to have zero work experience in the world and be elected to Congress?
I also see there that his percentage of the electorate has gone down to 65% and a bit, from a high of 79 and a low of 58% in 2012.

(285 posts).... at all. But it looks like he got his law degree at age 37. He had worked as a coach from age 23 to 31 at OSU (8 years), where he also got a masters degree. He first got elected at age 30 to the Ohio State House of Reps.
Joe Biden got his law degree at age 26 and worked for less than a year before running for his first office (County Council)at age 27. He was elected to the US Senate at age 30 after having worked for less than 4 years after law school.
I am not saying Jordan is as good as Biden, much less better. I am simply saying that trying to bash someone because of their post-law school background before entering public service is problematic given some of our politicians.
I suggest hitting Jordan on his politics or his inane questioning during the hearing instead.

(19,979 posts)Inherit a big pile of money, buy their way to the top--like Dumpy the Clown. Some probably bought their college degrees, just didn't get caught. Without much real-world experience, easy to see why so many are terrible at their jobs and don't belong in a government "of the People."

(8,329 posts)He runs every two years. Term limits would also remove Speaker Pelosi, Congressman Lewis, Chairwoman Waters, Leader Hoyer, Chairwoman Lowey, Chairman Schiff, Chairman McGovern. They have all been there 20 years. I am not in favor of throwing out good people who are good at there job.
Term limits would make the Congress a club for those who could afford to take a few years off and play Congress.

(6,110 posts)I am still not in favor of lifelong politicians. Those people build up a somewhat oblique view of life in real America.
My preference would be fairly long tenures but still not lifetime. For example 7 terms for reps and 3 terms for senators.
Not many rich business people can afford to take 14-18 years off from their business. And we will get people in congress who have actual experience of making a living outside of politics. America is full of talented people and we should have no trouble attracting good people to run for congress.
