I found it deeply disturbing.
Today I see no whiff of that story.
I dont remember the publication.
Did anyone else see that?

But it was a pretty meaningless expression of the desire of both parties to peacefully oversee the development of the Western Pacific, etc etc

I really don't think China cares too much about Korea and simply considers them an export market and a source of cheap labor. Now Taiwan, that's a horse of a different color.
