but didn't want to see the wrath of trumpers. Just an observation. This week our condo building is getting a new roof (Irma damage, finally!). I see ten or twelve Central Americans, up there, physically working on the hot Florida sun. They are here 11 hours every day! Never stopping or slacking off. Just working. These men are immigrants. Don't know their legal status not what they are paid. I admire their work ethic and know it can only contribute to the greatness of this country.

(6,854 posts)I see Mexicans and Central Americans working everywhere, sun up to sun down. My city and state would not run without their labor. Much respect to them.

but also worry that Mexicans are going to take your job...

(113,052 posts)was mind-boggling. It was immigrant laborers who got Southern California up and running again with many billions of dollars saved. 5 months after that day a freeway was rebuilt and LA county hosted the World Cup, as scheduled.

If I comment in a private group it never happen, only on public pages.
either I really pissed off some deranged Trump supporter who keeps reporting my posts about Trump, or there are bots that make lists of users who negatively comment about Trump and attempt to hack their accounts, but it's definitely not random. It only happens if I make a comment about trump and it's on a public news article about him, but it won't stop me, it's just a nuisance
I've sent messages to Facebook asking why it keeps happening but it's pretty much pointless trying to actually get a human to look at a message you send to them.

(22,794 posts)that had died within falling distance of our house. They did a fantastic job! Cleaned everything up beautifully and caused no damage to other trees and plants during he removal. I treated them to beer on the back deck when they had finished. Great people. It helps that I speak Spanish, as a couple of them did not understand English.

(202 posts)I so often feel powerless to show appreciation for people who do the hard labor. I don't care whether they are formally documented. My grandfather wasn't. It frustrates me even more to know that they are being abused by the system, the president, and his hate-filled supporters.
When five Hispanic men showed up to replace my roof (hail, not hurricane), one of the fellows asked if I would order a plain pizza for them for lunch and tried to give me money to pay for it. I insisted on paying and decided they needed two large pizzas, one with all the toppings, especially since two or three looked like teenagers!
They were delighted and I was even more delighted that I could act directly to show them appreciation.

(120 posts)I dont think there has been a single contractor-installed roof put up in the fifteen years Ive lived here that was worked on by anyone with good understanding of the English language, save the one bilingual person who relays what the boss calls up from the ground.
A hell of a lot of wallboard too!
And theyre building new homes like crazy!

1) a really strong work ethic, and
2) really strong social ties and commitment to family, friends and community.
