13. One of my favorite Jefferson quotes:
Fri Nov 22, 2019, 02:05 PM
Nov 2019

"An informed and enlightened citizenry is the archenemy of tyranny."

I think the corollary might be that an un-informed and b]un-enlightened citizenry is the foundation of tyranny. And I think this is why Repugs are so hostile to education--the less educated are less willing to question the authority, and thus more accepting of domination.

19. Both true.

The struggle to pull the dis-informed out of their mental indolence, indifference to truth, and bigotry, feels endless, like so much paddling against the tide. Friends, relatives, and acquaintances alike, in these ruts of hostility towards objective facts, seem hellbent on staying in them. They like it there.

She had access to classified data, the type of data Trump brags about knowing AND quite often shares it with the Russians.

She could see connections that were hidden away from the average American citizen.

The U.S. intelligence services have been maligned by Trump and the GOP. Maligned with memes like "fake news", "deep state", "never trumpers, and many others. Essentially lying about the validity of our intelligence agencies' findings.

Now over the last two weeks of hearing, Trump has kept access to the data from being public. More than one of the recent FACT witnesses have said: "they could have been more precise if they had their documents." How convenient for the GOP members that the witnesses were unable to produce the factual data. WHY?...because Trump wouldn't release it.

The GOP members of the Impeachment Hearings used the fact that not all the documents need were available. They played both sides of the fence.

Whining on the one hand that they didn't have access to the data that would PROVE their conspiracy theories. DEBUNKED theories.

Then on the other hand constantly making the point that all the data the witnesses where citing was second hand. How convenient for them that Trump wouldn't release the factual data.

You know Obstruction of Justice.

I foresee in the future there will be a lot of laws passed in the wake of all this shit. The President, while under investigation, has the power to block access to evidence in that investigation. That is absolutely ridiculous!

A DU post eariler today pointing out that a law was passed in Russia that will REQUIRE all electronic devices to have Russian software installed. Just imagine how little privacy users of those devices will have.

I'd take a bet if Trump is elected to a second term we will be facing the same invasion on our privacy.

both to the left and the right by "punching" Hillary: that woman is a corrupt/ neoliberal/commie/warmonger/troops-hating/carpet-bagging c*nt." Wow, you sure made yourself look radical/murican on Facebook and to your friends, but how did that work out for the entire freakin' world?

I'm thinking it's a phenomenon akin to hippy-punching: mommy-punching. Prove how cool you are by dissing your parents. Hillary represents "mom", she is all about work, responsibility, doing your homework and knowing the material, and doing your part instead of blaming someone else. She can absorb the punches and keep on keeping on. But Mom doesn't live forever and she can't fix all problems, and when the time comes...it's not her fault.

how scary what she knew was.

Or how much she must have worried, even with almost all polls showing her winning solidly until close to the end. To me, just the realization that Trump was nevertheless only one vote away from the oval office was a cold and surreal reality.

Such a burden to carry the future of the nation on her shoulders and to feel responsibility, as she must have, for even the decisions of those willing to believe disproved lies about her.

THIS below is the real Secretary Clinton speaking, though.

We of course know they're doing their best to kick off the ties of representative government that are supposed to bind them, and allowing those to rule is not in their game plan, to put it mildly.

"Are there any women out there who astutely analyzed a situation and issued warnings, but were ignored or discounted?" it would generate a tidal-wave of responses.

Brilliant answer by Hillary. Its brevity speaks volumes.

How are you doing?

I have been trying to figure out what to in this election. I was pretty annoyed with Mayor Pete early on, due to an unfair swipe he took at HRC, parroting the claim that her slogan had been "I'm with her" when, of course, it was actually "Stronger Together." I thought he made some unfair critiques of her campaign.

But I am slowly warming up to him. He has been much better lately. I am now giving him serious consideration.

I like Kamala Harris too, but she is struggling to stay in the top tier. It looks like she will be out after Iowa.

Tulsi Gabbard is loathsome.

Everything is OK. I hope that's the case for you too.

I don't have a favorite candidate yet. Although I think that mayor Pete will do well in the future, I don't think that he'll be the nominee this time around.

Frankly, I don't know if anyone in our current roster will sway enough Independents and some moderate Republicans not to vote for Trump. As despicable as he is, he seems to have created a cult and we don't have anyone with that kind of pull in our current roster. There's no Obama or Hillary in the group. Maybe Sanders, but he's too darn old IMO and his views scare away moderates.

At this point, I would vote for a turnip over Trump. I'm just not sure if we can pull it off. I'm praying and keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for PA, so I want to wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
