I heard clips today with Graham praising Joes character effusively. And now this?

(14,961 posts)necrophilia. Obviously it has to be something so heinous, most of us couldn't even imagine. Until then, all we have are guesses.

What he doesnt want to get out is he took that oligarch money. Its in the millions, Im sure, or all this wont be worth it...

(24,489 posts)I think we'll find out that the entire Republican Party is being held hostage by Putin/Trump. Maybe we should watch their eye-blinks very closely for coded messages.

(41,832 posts)Lindsey loves his life as a Senator. He likes the perks and the power. In order not to be primaried, he has to suck up to Trump.
He probably thinks Trump is a moron, but he is his best buddy because he likes to be seen and heard in the news and elsewhere.
Lindsey is a Republican. Never forget that either. Republicans have no character.

(63,221 posts)a Trump ass licker. That episode with the Marine today made me sick and convinced me that he will do anything to protect Trump's reputation at his own expense, so there must be something much bigger at stake.
I wish someone on our side could find out and expose him or threaten to so that MF45 didn't have sole control over him. What could be so bad that you would sell your soul to a cretin like Trump and allow him to control your life? I would do almost anything to be out from under that nightmare.
That's what I don't get about these guys. They could always have decent jobs as lawyers or lobbyists or do something else where they don't have to put up with this crap. Surely there could be worse things than losing their jobs as politicians. It's not like they make that much money and they could still grift on the side. I can't understand the loyalty and the desperation.

(58,785 posts)and his subsequent 180-degree, genuinely vicious realignment against Biden, along with many other radical changes, is part of a time line that can be used to pinpoint when something very bad happened to ol' Lindsay. If we're shocked by who Graham became, how about an honorable Democrat who's known and worked with him in the senate for decades?

(32,083 posts)Both campaign money and laundered money lining his own pockets. Somebody needs to check out whether or not he has offshore bank accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if some human trafficking is involved, as well. And, I doubt he's alone in either that or the dirty money. Far from alone, most likely.

(16,079 posts)Leonard Blavatnik is a supporter of the US Republican Party, and in 20152016 donated a total of $7.35 million to six Republican political candidates, including South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham.
Blavatnik is also a longtime friend and business partner of Ukrainian-born Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg, one of Russia's richest men, who is close to Russian President Vladimir Putin!

(58,785 posts)I think most are thinking small in assuming Graham fell for money. The agents who compromise people in power only sometimes do it by first bribing them, and that's never the people at the top, like Graham, who can get plenty from legal donors. I'm pretty sure that Russia's legal (he helped write the laws opening the gates to foreign money nearly a decade ago now) super PAC donations came after they had him roped and tied.
Russian agents very often come with preexisting dirt used to blackmail victims into compromising themselves beyond recall, and/or they manipulate their target into doing something they can then use to force him into further cooperation. Deliberately or inadvertently leaking classified information, destroying records, selling their votes, conspiracy to commit crimes, meeting strangers in toilet stalls, business crimes, proof of election thefts, there are dozens of things that already dishonorable, weak, or foolish people do. That's going to be Graham.
As for the Republican Party itself, that was already rotting after 1980, increasingly packed with the sorts who'd agree to whatever those financing their elections required and ready for Russia's picking. I'd bet big money if I had it that Russia is hardly the only one using their own actions to blackmail some of the Republicans in power. Like their own donors or players in places like the FBI, who themselves may be compromised. Corruption among conservatives is now deeply entrenched. Russia played a big part in making that happen, but they built on what was already happening.

(15,715 posts)The Patriot Act is still law. Therefor they still listen to everyone.
Remember DC had /has more stinger installations than anywhere else.
Everyone D & R have dirt on each other and everyone else.
The patriot act was the only thing needed to turn the U.S. into a fascist state.

(11,885 posts)He probably is part of organized election crimes, campaign funneled laundered money, and why they had trump use the Republican Party for him to run on, they had more against them to use for control, and to compromise them with. Trump isn't republican, and he just is doing what Putin wants for control and to use for manipulation for his benefit.
