It's worth noting that those of pushing for impeachment on DU all along have been proven right

Go back to immediately pre-impeachment, Dotard's approval rating was banging on 50% in ABC/WP. Now, his 538 average is around 41%, down from nearing 45% pre-impeachment. Speaker Pelosi's momentous decision took courage and it seems like it completely altered and, indeed, reversed the slow upward direction Mr. Toad was on and may have ended the march he was on to re-election. Those that said impeachment would backfire can line up for their crow please!

1. HUGE differnence between pre WB and post WB, so unless you mean ONLY AFTER

the WB, then no.

The reason impeachment is now feasible and popular is because of the WB info. I was for impeachment all along also but the support for it was far less before the WB and LIKE IT OR NOT popular support plays a HUGE role in impeachment.

If you dont believe me ask the people who worked on Nixon's.

Reversed the pro-Toad tide of early September. Go back to just pre 9/24 on 538 and compare the numbers to now on 538. Quite a difference.

ER, I see what you mean now. That's a good point.

the truth is without support the way it is NOW it could have been suicidal.

Standing up for the rule of law and impeaching this piece of shit is the right thing to do regardless and I said the DAY after inauguration he was in violation of emoluments and should have been impeached then.

But had he then or before WB the support level would have not only let him off the hook but hurt our chances to beat him and the KGB next year.

It kind of all blurs in together (the criminality) but your reminder of what things were like is timely and makes me re-consider the premise of my post. You're right. Things were vastly different back then.

you'd have to be seriously deluded to think waiting for an election is the "fix" for Trump, KNOWING that cheating bastard is owned by Putin

12. Wait, you mean you were "technically and legally right?" or do you mean prior to the WB

you were not only right but impeachment would have NOT hurt our chances to remove this KGB asset in 2020?

You see I was for impeachment DAY TWO for emoluments clause violations and I was for impeachment prior to the WB but I would also have been risking our chance to remove the Russian asset in 2020 because prior to the WB too many Americans for some STUPID FUCKING REASON still didnt think he was bad enough to remove.

And even though it would be the RIGHT thing to do to impeach prior to WB, and even though in a SANE world it would remove him prior to WB, we are not in that world, we are in a world where women are possibly soon going to be imprisoned or EXECUTED for using reproductive healthcare, we are in a world where our PRESIDENT wants to SHOOT CHILDREN in the legs to slow them down, we are in a world where our EPA is trying to POISON us, we are in a world where our President promotes our enemies causes and obstructs our allies causes, we are in a world where almost 40% of our nation WANTS YOU and WANTS ME gone, and they do NOT care how!

So yes, I would love to impeach and remove him, but if we dont beat him in 2020 our actual lives are at stake and so this reality calls for a unique approach on our part.

Dont you think?

Yeah..538 had trump's approval rating near 45% before the impeachment hearings.....but that was over two years before the impeachment hearings.

He's pretty much been around 40-42 for the better part of the last two years.
