Millions of dollars of jewelry stolen from home of British billionaire heiress

https://abcnews.go.com/International/millions-dollars-jewelry-stolen-home-british-billionaire-heiress/story?id=67751473

LONDON -- Jewelry believed to be worth tens of millions of dollars has been stolen from the house of British billionaire heiress Tamara Ecclestone in London after she left the home for the Christmas holidays.

Ecclestone, 35, the daughter of the former billionaire chief executive of Formula One worth an estimated $4.2 billion, Bernie Ecclestone, had reportedly left her home in West London for the Christmas holidays when the thieves struck Friday.

Reports in the Sun, a British tabloid, suggest that the estimated value of the stolen jewelry is upwards of $67 million.

And it's really stupid to keep anything worth that much in the home-- actually endangering self and staff. I'm remembering when Kim Kardashian was actually bruised and tied up by jewel robbers in her hotel, and that banker who died in a fire possibly set by robbers in Monte Carlo.

Obscene wealth.

Consequently, they never feel satisfied.

Here's to the ones that can escape all the egomania. They've got the best of both worlds.

I can’t help but think some of those pieces were family heirlooms- rich or poor, I’d be devastated to have my mother’s ring stolen. Have some compassion, there are things even millionaires can’t replace. 😢

Sorry, $67 million worth of "family heirlooms" is fucking way past excessive. I hope that she never sees a piece again. She could donated the money to house and feed homeless people, or even help build fucking decent homes for the working poor.

NO TEARS FROM ME, JUST DISGUST AT HER EXCESSIVENESS.

non-essential stuff. I can see a nice watch or even several, and some nice bracelets and necklaces, but that stuff falls way, way short of $67 million.

I repeat, the money could have done societal good. Now the stuff that it bought is likely to have precious stones removed and resold, and then get melted down for the precious metal in it.

Unfortunately, it is really not unusual to even see smart-ass comments made in posts about unlucky deaths, so a rich person being robbed, well forget about any feelings of empathy there.

Sad, but not unusual.

and you would think she had a large safe. It does make it seem an inside job. 67 million is mind boggling just in jewelry.

Her dad's friend of forty years used to pay young women to dress up as Nazis for his dungeon room orgies.

I like to think in similar circumstances I'd have given all that inherited wealth away to a real charity, changed my name, and gone into permanent hiding as a nurse at some very rural clinic in Canada, instead of becoming a tabloid television princess reveling in her family's notoriety.

Seriously, it would be best for everyone if the uber-wealthy were taxed out of existence.

Those billionaires who make the world a better place with their wealth, even those who create worthwhile jobs and teach their own children to be good people, are a very rare breed.
