Moore warned the "problem" is support for Trump in the Midwest has not gone down by "one inch" and that Trump voters are "even more rabid" than before because they are afraid he may lose.
"I think if the election were held today," Moore said of a Trump victory. "Hillary won by 3 million popular votes. I believe whoever the Democrat is next year is going to win by 4 to 5 million popular votes. Theres no question in my mind that people who stayed home, who sat on the bench, theyre going to pour out, in California, New York and you know, but also in Texas and whatever, I mean, places that Trump will probably win, but, yeah, theres going to be a much higher percentage of people voting against him."

(4,135 posts)He has a 50:50 shot at being right every election; so far he seems to be doing worse than you would expect. Besides which, if the Dem candidate wins by 5 million votes, they will win the election.

(6,373 posts)He won those states by tiny fractions of 1 percent. Trump's voters can come out all they want but if the Democratic nominee gets even the tiniest bit of support more than Hillary did in 2016, he'll lose those states.

(92,061 posts)Hillary lost by less than 1%, and in those states Jill Stein received 1%
It didn't help that Moore's constant demoralizing efforts, and continually spewing that there was no difference between republicans and Democrats may have influenced some

...the base of both Party's is baked in and ready to fight but that's not where the election will be won or lost...
...that's why it's imperative to have a candidate with great populist ideas and broad support capable of going toe-to-toe with trump and the pukes...

I think this is the most under-reported aspect of the 2016 election that even a lot on the left don't want to or can't repeat.

But the Democrats can use this commentary from him to their advantage: as long as people believe this, let it motivate the hell out of them to get out the vote.

(10,053 posts)There is still time! Even Moore said in his interview:
The good news is, again, number one, never forget, theres more of us than there are of them. The majority of the American people agree with us. Seventy percent of the voters next year are women, people of color and young adults. OK? All that on our side.

(9,944 posts)... *he's pretty much wrong in his Presidential predictions. I believe he predicted President Romney, too. People say he predicted President Trump, but that is not entirely correct... as far as I can recall, he did not say Electoral College winner. Hillary was the clear vote winner. That being said, I do think Michael Moore has good points to bring up and is on our side.

(5,005 posts)and Pennsylvania will decide this election. His numbers dont seem to be dropping really low in those states. Plus this morning they are showing him at 45% and I think they said that was the realm that Obama was in for his re-election. Plus we know there will be tampering. It will be an uphill battle to get an incumbent out (even a crook like Trump). All we can do is vote, encourage people we know to vote, donate, volunteer and pray that is enough to overcome evil.

(9,109 posts)More than a few of the Trump-voting Republicans of 2016 have either passed on or, in small slivers, have wised up.
I suspect that Donnies race-baiting is going to have blow-back. Latino-baiting in a state like Texas has already got Texas Republicans (Previously a justifiably smug bunch) feeling nervous. Texas Latinos are already as numerous as their Euro-American counterparts. If the Big Red Capstone falls over, Donnie is as done as overcooked roast turkey.
Theres also the lightning-rod effect: I hate to say it, but Hillary was a lightning rod for almost every right-wing whack job. This year, everybody to the left of John C. Calhoun has rather hostile feelings towards Orange Julius.
Does Good Old Joe or even Oklahomas estranged daughter Elizabeth Warren have similarly charged feelings? I doubt it.
I think Michael Moores prognostication is probably off.
