Trump's Obama obsession drives his foreign policy

As Donald Trump and his allies speak to the country and the world amid the fallout from the fatal strike on Iranian military leader Qasam Soleimani, one name continues to pop up: Barack Obama.

The former president made an appearance in all but name during Trump's Wednesday address following an Iranian missile attack on two Iraqi bases housing US troops the previous night.

"The missiles fired last night at us and our allies were paid for with the funds made available by the last administration," Trump said, referencing the release of frozen Iranian funds as negotiated by Obama's administration in the Iran nuclear deal.

The President has consistently invoked Obama's record since the successful strike on Soleimani last week.

Speaking to conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Monday, Trump mentioned his immediate predecessor's name four times in the first five minutes of a 20-minute interview.
