Did any broadcast network note that the presidents speech this morning seemed... off? I know NBC didnt. Seemed pretty obvious, no?

(82,849 posts)As Ronnie tottered off into never-never land during his second term, it was taboo for the media to notice the way he was slipping, losing words or falling back into familiar patterns and quotes inappropriate to the situation. It certainly did the country no favors to pretend that Reagan was still on top of his game when he clearly wasn't. Thirty-two years later, we have a man who's breaking down in public before the electorate's eyes, and nobody with a big microphone can bring himself to describe what's happening.
James O'Keefe or Rush Limbaugh can pass along the most scurrilous rumors about a Democrat and the media feel bound to report on it because "it's out there." Jeff Greenfield, formerly in the Club, makes an observation about Trump based on what anyone with two eyes can see, but the major media are hush-hush about Trump's deterioration.
