[This is so heart heavy what happened. I have a not good feeling about the reason for the crash.]

(4,392 posts)in doctorate university programs - not to mention the very young children - and a newly-wed couple - so very sad! I too share the OP's dark suspicions - also, considert that I thought I read that Putin was lurking (Syria?) then on the way to (Turkey?), and all the more of Dimwit Donny's vanishing lemon juice ink drafts!

(51,593 posts)he turned the plane around back to the airport after the problem. Would he have had time to do that if it had been hit by a missile?

(20,249 posts)I'm believing for a thorough investigation to arrive at the truth. I feel the Ukrainians will not simply settle. I know some personally and they are staunch.

It's just pretty strange. A three year old plane.

The missiles had struck one or two of the engines, and the flight crew was trying in vain to maintain control of the aircraft for several minutes as they lost altitude. Unfortunately, the power and hydraulics losses forced an emergency landing into the ocean, and a total loss of all on board.

(81 posts)If there was a Ukrainian on board who was willing to testify in the impeachment. Maybe its just coincidence, but given the two major news stories, impeachment and war with Iran, it just seems a little convenient.
Iran does seem culpable in their refusing to turn over the planes black-box, so I may need to put my tinfoil hat away.

(118,659 posts)Europeans like Italy's embassy to help people in Iran. We've tried to talk about opening a new one but Iran is having none of it. I hope given such a tragedy, and the obvious close ties between canada and Iranians that this tragedy highlights, they allow us to investigate the crash. We have investigators and also allow foreign investigators in canada after plane crashes.
*Edited to add canada did have an embassy in Iran in the 2000s but Conservative PM Stephen Harper closed it.
