Laurence Tribe: "It's time to stop blaming @SpeakerPelosi for delaying the Senate trial."

Laurence Tribe ✔ @tribelaw

It’s time to stop blaming @SpeakerPelosi for delaying the Senate trial. She has made clear that the only holdup is Mitch McConnell’s unwillingness to have his majority announce the rules that will permit a real trial to begin. Mitch, you say you’ve got the votes. Now PROVE IT!

airtime to McConnell and swallowing his deceptive position about just doing what the full Senate agreed to in the Clinton impeachment. Nancy and every frigging Democrat should be loudly pointing out the distinction — in the Clinton impeachment, every witness, document and other piece of evidence subpoenaed by the Special Prosecutor and the House was actually provided or appeared for testimony. That’s a big distinction!

Jon Tester, Joe Manchin, Chris Murphy, Dianne Feinstein and Richard Blumenthal all are saying it is time to send the impeachment articles to the Senate. These people are going to be quoted far and wide in the media and with an election coming up the last thing we need is for independents too feel like this is being held up for political reasons which is going to happen if the senate democrats continue to turn on the Speaker.

..but doesn't want to put the rules in writing and put them up for a vote.

All they need to do is vote on the rules. So she knows the "arena" she is operating within, for the American people.

Let them pass the rules so we can see what they are going to be.

simply say when the Speaker has a set of rules that have been voted on, she will appoint trial managers and pass the articles on for the Senate trial — just like what happened on the Clinton impeachment (ast as I understand it).

That mofo held up advancing that nomination forward for nearly two years, thus blocking Obama's constitutionally-given power to select Supreme Court justices for nomination and consideration. All the while he kept repeating his mantra, "let the people decide who the next nominee will be" (by *electing* a new POTUS). So he got his way by remaining ramjack adamant about it. Much the same as he's doing now with the impeachment mock-trial in the senate. She should hold that nomination indefinitely. She should not allow that shit to have his way again. You'll hear him say again, "let the voters decided on who the next POTUS is" and not remove El Caudillo del Mar a-Lago until the people decide to pitch his diseased ass out. Well, I say, shame on any democrat who sides with McConnel in trying to speed up when or if Pelosi turns the Articles over for trial. She should hold them until the Earth stops spinning on its axis before allow them to be turned into a sham prop in a totally retrumplican-rigged display of contempt of the people, the constitution and our democratic republic! And shame on those Dems in the senate for trying to goose her along. Shame!

But Speaker Nancy is stronger than her adversaries, more intelligent than any of them, and will handle this situation to the best advantage of the country (first), and the Democratic Party (second).
