Why has Joe Lieberman been exhumed to be on all the talking head shows?

But I know the suspense is killing you, so here's the short answer: Lieberman (and virtually every other Very Serious Person who's cheerleading the Iran strike on your teevee) makes his paycheck shilling for the defense industry. Quelle coincidence! And, as Legum points out, no TV host bothered to point out the financial conflicts of interest:

Lieberman works for Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), an Israeli weapons manufacturer that recently opened an office in DC “with the aim of winning new contracts in the United States.” Lieberman, who was hired through his law firm, Kasowitz Benson Torres, was brought on to “strategically advise IAI in its activities in the U.S. and its relations with the Department of Defense.”

The story also runs down the defense contractor connections of William Cohen, Michael Chertoff, David Deptula, John Negroponte, and others. If you see any of these men holding forth on a cable news show about how important it is that the United States get involved in a bright shiny new war (the other ones are all scuffed and worn out, unless you or a loved one is fighting them), it's because it's in their financial interest that it happens. Are they introduced or identified as being spokesmen for defense contractors? Whoops! We didn't have time or screen space to go into all that, and it's not really relevant anyway, is it?
