Was the Ukrainian Air flight traveling in the normal departing flight path when it went down?
If so, color me a bit skeptical that Iran mistook a commercial airline departing its own airport for an incoming US military plane.
Unless the Iranian anti-aircraft crew was so trigger happy and untrained along the likes of the Russian separatists who shot down MH17 in 2014.
But otherwise it just doesn't seem to make very much sense to me. I think something happened with that plane more than regular mechanical error, but I'm not completely convinced at this point it was an Iranian shootdown.
