?w=800&quality=85Pelosi has told colleagues shes had to wear a night guard because the White House makes her grind her teeth in her sleep. But her frustration is born of determination, not unease. In our interview, I asked her if the Presidents nickname for her, Nervous Nancy, is accurate. Pfft, she says, waving a hand. Hes nervous. Everything he says, hes always projecting. He knows the case that can be made against him. Thats why hes falling apart.

(53,410 posts)Nervous Nancy on the cover of Time!

(11,738 posts)Sure you can argue that it is a political risk, but to say it is a gamble is demeaning the situation. Nancy Pelosi is trying to save the institutions that have guided this country (for better or worse) for centuries. She is "All In" on Trump because he is a danger to the rule of law. Even if he is ultimately punished, his behavior has done damage to the foundations of law in this country.
Nothing short of a paradigm shift in how people view government, and their responsibility to educate themselves, be involved, and pick a good government; is going to really improve things.
That said, this who Time Cover is emblematic of what we are facing with regards to information. They demean the situation by focusing on the "gamble" instead of discussing what this really is. Pelosi is in a strategic fight with the GOP over the future of our Democratic Republic.
They ask about a childish nickname. Again, demeaning. It should be a given that his behavior is below the dignity of the office. To even ask the question is insulting to the seriousness of what we are facing as a country.

(3,627 posts)One roll, all or nothing, stakes are the republic itself. Even if you have a huge advantage fate can go against you. But taking the bet is the smart thing to do, and necessary too.

(35,684 posts)The story is superficial--focusing on tactics, manipulation, and using loaded words like "gamble." Asking about the childish nickname is insulting. No wonder she occasionally loses her temper with some of these idiotic questions.
I really liked what you wrote: Nancy Pelosi is trying to save the institutions that have guided this country (for better or worse) for centuries. She is "All In" on Trump because he is a danger to the rule of law. Even if he is ultimately punished, his behavior has done damage to the foundations of law in this country.
Don't these reporters have a memory? If they did, they would recall that it wasn't easy to get Pelosi to take this move. She said "Donald Trump isn't worth it." Paragraph after paragraph of this article deals with risk taking and tactics.
And it's not as if this reporter doesn't understand better. The article states:
But she is careful to cast impeachment not as a political gambit but as a project to preserve the checks and balances of American democracy. Thats my responsibility: to protect the Constitution of the United States, she says.
It's totally a decision of values, and the writers and editors valued maneuvering over the more noble motive of protecting American institutions. I am disgusted.

(13,600 posts)What next? Ask every politician if the schoolyard nickname trump has for them "is accurate?"
Congressman Schiff, is "shifty schiff" accurate?
Senator Clinton, is "crooked hillary" accurate?
Senator Biden, is "sleepy joe" accurate?
What a pant load.

(4,341 posts)"How can we piss the piece of shit in the WH?" And in chorus they all answered "Lets have Pelosi on the cover."
Because the idiot doesn't read, he won't know or care about the article, but THE COVER, THAT will give him a stomach ache, his little heart will pound in anger, his little brain will hurt...THE COVER!! He is not on it, only his last name as being pounded by a woman.
I think I am enjoying the cover...
