Texas Police Officer Fired For Giving A Sandwich Full Of Feces To A Homeless Man Wins His Job Back

A Texas officer who lost his job in 2016 for feeding dog feces to a homeless man has had his termination overturned following an appeal.

Officer Matthew Luckhurst, who appealed his suspension from Oct. 28, 2016, argued his termination from the San Antonio Police Department was unlawful as it did not take place within the first 180 days after the incident, reports KSAT.

Luckhurst, a bike patrol officer, initially stated that the incident occurred when he was on-duty on May 6, 2016. Luckhurst admitted to placing discarded pieces of dog feces between two bread slices in a food container. The officer then left the disguised faux meal next to a homeless man.

. . .

Despite being indefinitely suspended on Oct. 28, 2016 for the foul incident, which would have been well within the 180 days, the officer sought through his medical records and determined that his initial date was incorrect. He cited an injury that kept him from being able to bike for the month of May.

Instead, Luckhurst says his records point to April 6 or June 14 for the incident, which would ultimately make his termination unlawful.

An arbitrator reviewed the documents from Luckhurst as well as the investigation and overturned Luckhurst's suspension.

A month after Luckhurst was indefinitely suspended in October 2016, he received a second indefinite suspension after he and another officer defecated in a female restroom at the downtown bike patrol office and did not flush it.

Luckhurst and the other officer then got a brown substance with the consistency of tapioca and spread it on the toilet seat, giving the appearance that there was fecal matter on the seat, according to a copy of his November 2016 termination paperwork.

He was scheduled to go before an arbitrator in mid-November in that case, but the hearings were canceled without the media being given an explanation.

For all the people out there who bleat to me: "He's protecting you while you sleep!" - Fuck that.

This asshole is a dirtbag from the word 'go'. He's a worthless piece of shit with a badge, and I hope he spends an eternity in Hell being force-fed the shit of all the demons of the underworld, and that they all have dysentery.

Any cop want to try this horrible stunt with one of my homeless patients is going to have to get through me first, and he'd better be square with God if he tries...

(I'm upset, in case you couldn't tell... )

police departments select for the worst possible people. Yes, there are good cops out there, but they happily work alongside people who are not good.

This is why I oppose police unions. The only thing they seem to do is keep bad cops on the job.

That is the act of a sociopath. We don't need more of those acting as police officers.

makes unions look bad. Although he basically got off on a technicality and if the union looks the other way they can get slammed with a past practice argument the next time around. Agree that the guy should not have any job dealing with people and is a disgusting human being.

Too bad for the remainder of their careers they can't be placed on six hour shifts, and demoted to, Officer Toilet Scrubber.

His actions are beyond reprehensible. This person should never be allowed to have authority over anyone! I just keep thinking about being hungry and having that done. Wow!

If he ever kills or maims someone, expect SAPD to be slapped with a giant lawsuit.
