BREAKING NEWS: Trump Approved Soleimani Assassination in mid-2019, Days After Signing New Defense Pact With UAE, Which Appears to Have Wanted Soleimani Dead Since (at the Latest) UAE Agent/Trump Adviser Erik Prince Told Trump He Should Be Killed in mid-2015 (See Pinned Thread)MSNBC ✔ @MSNBC
President Trump authorized the killing of Iran's Gen. Soleimani seven months ago if Iran's increased aggression resulted in the death of an American, current and former senior administration officials say. https://on.msnbc.com/2NlFsSi

PS/ I find it as significant that the conversation within the administration about assassinating Soleimani started shortly after Trump entered office in 2017, underscoring it was part of his Iran policy from the beginning, that is, right after UAE helped him gain the White House.

(21,484 posts)a good policy toward Iran, planned snd thought out in advance, and not a case of quick-tempered reaction in the moment.
Iran's collossal error of not grounding commercial flights when on high alert unfortunately not only resulted in the loss of passengers on the flight they shot down, but also makes Trump look heroic to his followers. They see the shoot down and international reaction to it, .plus the internal demonstrations now by Iranians, as justification of Trump's policy and actions toward Iran.
And what about the lack of consultation with Congress since this was NOT a 'sudden' emergency event?

(21,484 posts)and what spin we are up against in debunking it. To fight your enemy you must know where they are. To counter spin with facts, it helps to know what the spin is.
This site is constantly full of threads about what Trumpists say, think, promote. So it seems that some people perhaps want to talk about it, even if they don't want to hear about it.

(21,484 posts)door to door canvassing in 3 different states in '08 and '12 for Obama. I found it was useful to know where people were at in their thinking in order to reach them. The groups I worked with agreed and found it helpful that I had lived in 2 of the states where we worked and was a native of the other state. Ostriches wearing ear plugs don't see or hear anything negative, so their asses are rather vulnerable sticking up in the air.
I very much agree. And their views are often discussed here.
I also like advance knowledge of what b.s. to expect from my reichwing brother and neighbors.

(21,484 posts)people are at, but, IMO, that's all the more reason.to make a point of knowing it in order to debunk it. Clinton won in '92 by making a point of countering spin the moment it emerged. Kerry ignored the swift boaters in the belief that it would blow over. It didn't.

He had no idea who Soleimani was.

(53,785 posts)from years, even months ago. Doesn't it seem this is coming out to cover trump's ass for his impulsive, unwise decision to one-up Obama's take out of the hated Bin Ladin by killing Soleimani, who he only remembered because someone fucked up and included his name on a list of options presented to trumpespecially since it has come out that there was no imminent threat to our embassies?
