BREAKING: Charles, William & Harry leave Sandringham separately as the crisis meeting breaks up
The meeting of the Royal Family at Sandringham has broken up after an afternoon of intense discussions.
The Queen summoned the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex to Sandringham for the summit to discuss the future roles of the Duke & Duchess of Sussex in the family.
It is understood that the Duchess dialled-in to the meeting from Canada.
No information about what happened at the summit has so far been released, however, it is known that the meeting started at around 2pm.

I never thought she'd go hardball-- aka Edward VIII, but it isn't true that she was powerless to assert herself and the Royal "interests." Reportedly Harry is her favorite grandson, so I suspect she really wanted to achieve a good outcome for all concerned.
I don't blame either side on this. I certainly empathize with Harry and Meghan, am no more a "royalist" than any American, but I likewise still have respect for the Queen, given all she has lived through.

(15,540 posts)Oh, and they didn't really need the Queen's "permission". They probably just wanted her blessing.
Maybe the Queen, as she nears the end of her life, is seeing the handwriting on the wall about the irrelevance of the monarchy.
