A treasure that could have been a tragedy

Jayne Wilson said she'd chiseled away at the disc-shaped discovery since April when she found it sitting atop a stretch of shoreline when she'd walked north of Tracking Station Beach Park off State Road A1A.

As a home health worker, Wilson said she made the discovery while walking a client's dog.

It wasn't until she saw pictures of a similar discovery made by a Vero Beach man Tuesday that she suspected her find was also some kind of military ordnance.

" (I) saw the article in the newspaper this morning," Jayne Wilson said, adding a friend had reached out to her giving her a heads-up to look for it after seeing land mines making headlines online Tuesday afternoon.
