In covering US wars, I've been in foxholes and VA hospitals, on medic choppers and patrols. Brave Americans serve their nation, not political parties. The accusation that somehow one party supports the enemy is a debasement of everything that should define us as a country.

(6,448 posts)Now all we have are Democrats and Republicans. Respectfully, Mr. Rather, the country is fully divided and I don't see a quick fix anywhere in sight.

Democrats defending themselves against Pogroms with firearms won't happen.
Why? Americans are too lazy.

(2,275 posts)I'd rather hear Dan Rather go past "corporate normal" and spell out how, in fact, the Republicans are accusing Democrats so vociferously because they, the party of Lincoln, are receiving money and cyber attack suoport from Putin, and possibly other enemies of the United States. He needs to say it. Lay it out there. (And keep repeating it.)

(18,634 posts)Trump has had that as his primary mission since he became president and Republicans unanimously support him.
Heck, the evangelicals even proclaim him to be a messenger from God.
God must be a pretty crappy person himself to send a guy like this to rule us.
The ultimate aim is to debase the Constitution itself so it won't be able to get in his way as he ascends to the throne of ultimate power.
