Frequent regulars to Trump’s hotel bar were making connections and working their magic to become more influential in Trump’s circle. Disgusting. But, you’re right this is the same thing on a really big scale. It’s a bubble and they think they are better and above everyone else. It’s all about them and they don’t give a shit. They actually think the fact that they make enough money to buy a Prada bag means that they are giving someone a job and helping the economy. I was actually told that at a country club. If they don’t have the money to buy the a Prada bag, that sales person doesn’t have a job. That’s how they justify it. So, they are helping the economy by being filthy rich. They believe it.

Unfortunately, they whine about the amount of money they're spending on their Country Club fees and hope to break even or make some profit out of their connections. And those connections sometimes reach into the City government!
