My take on the "its boring" and the pearl clutching

Republican senators know what Trump did was impeachable and they hate to be reminded of it over and over. That is also why they really do not want Bolton to testify. They know it will be even harder to keep up the denial routine.

Susan Collins also knows that a Trumper probably did utter the "heads on a pike" phrase or something similar. But maybe not actually to her so she can plausibly say - "not true." But she knows that Trump and his minions have said similar stuff and worse. They are all in a shitty place and they know it.

And others will probably testify on Rachel Maddow's show. Portraying Trump as a mafia boss has traction because it's obvious.

His response was to be livid that his wife was accusing him of cheating on her.

Didn't work for him, but time will tell if it works for Retrumplicans.
