Bill Maher is dead wrong re: Trump supporters

Last edited Sat Jan 25, 2020, 08:47 PM - Edit history (1)

Last night on Real Time, he said that you can't hate people who support Trump. He's wrong, you absolutely can hate people who support Trump. Maybe not in person, but I've seen some truly awful shit being flung by conservatives and Trump supporters in the last 3 years.

You know who the real snowflakes are? Take this guy Ben Baker, for instance. He's so offended by the concept of Drag Queen Story Hour that he's taking his fight to Capitol Hill. Who's the real snowflake here? I'll give you a hint: It's not the drag queens!

Or take that Nicholas Sandmann douchebag. A 16 year old kid who was so hurt at the fact that he was exposed as a liar and bigot that he sued CNN and the Washington Post for $250 million and he's still not done suing the shit out of them! And speaking of suing people for stupid things, what about Devin Nunes who is suing a Twitter account called, "Devin Nunes' Cow"?

Conservatives get so easily offended that they can't walk into a fucking store in the month of December without being offended that they're not immediately greeted with "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays". And they started that nonsense!

Hell, even take the gun rally this week. Gun nuts were so offended by the fact that Virginia passed the first sensible gun control laws in this country this decade, that all states should abide by. And what did they do? They dragged their precious kill toys in front of the capitol as a threat that this shit shouldn't happen!

They're the ones really waging the "cancel culture". They only watch news networks that they agree with. They are waging war on education because they don't preach far right ideals enough. They are waging war on TV and radio, even music.

They make up conspiracy theories when things don't go exactly as planned, like calling Michelle Obama a man in drag or saying that Hillary pooped her pants. They said that Hillary ran a child sex ring out of a pizza parlor and shot up the place to prove that it was actually going down, and even went so far as to stalk and film children's birthday parties. I'm not making any of this up. Really that's so fucking childish I don't even know where to begin.

The real snowflakes are conservatives and Trump supporters. I'm sick of people saying that Democrats are the ones who need to grow a spine, and that PC culture is ruining everything, when it's all coming from conservatives and Trump supporters. They're the ones who need to grow a spine and a backbone, they have none. Conservatives would (and could) burn the country down instead of supporting anyone who might have a differing opinion than them and be from a different background than they are. They're afraid because they can't face anyone who might have a differening opinion than the one that kisses the Trump and Fox agenda 100%. Grow up.

I can go into so many reasons why but this is one reason. He constantly criticizes liberals he even said "I hate liberals" when the audience groaned at his joke which all comedians receive groans but others handle it better but he wants us to be nice to Trump supporters BTW I am much nicer to them than they are to me whenever we interact.

When it comes to PC culture I don't recall all this open racism before Fox News went on the air. I wasn't around during whites only signs but it seemed like we were getting beyond that but Fox News and right wing media set us backwards.

Especially when he started that one on one interview format. Im an atheist myself but he would lump all Muslims with the wahabbi sects and there is enough Islamaphobic hate on the right already. I also was deployed while in the Army so I saw Halliburton subcontractors exploit slave labor and many people are Muslims as well as other religions third country nationals from India, Nepal, Phillipines, North Africa. We also couldn't do our jobs without them particularly in my MOS -- 88M (Heavy Vehicle Operator). It never made sense to hate them because they were mistreated.

It is my experience that most of the assholes whining about "PC culture" are generally just assholes (did I say that twice? fuck it they deserve it ) who are tired of being called out for their assholiness and think they should suffer no consequences for their "free" speech.

The "but": several states, inculding my own (WA) have been passing gun safety laws and regulations around the country over the past few years. VA is not the only, or even the first.

Much more needs to be done, TBS, but it has been happening. The NRA is losing its iron grip.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate Trump supporters, but I certainly don't respect them. Their support for this unqualified, uncouth, traitorous, Putin puppet says lots about their ethics, morality, judgment, and willingness to accept the destruction of the rule of law in this country for a tax cut or control of women's health or elimination of equality for LGBTQ or the rollback of regulations on the environment or whatever backwards thing they want, including white male supremacy.

I cannot admire people like that. I have cut ties with quite a few folks over their support for Trump. In my mind, they have shown me who they are, and life is too short to spend time ignoring the darkness in the heart of people who are supposed to be friends and family.

And how they just turn into monsters when someone calls them out for being an asshole. Look we're not the ones who said that Ilhan Omar married her brother, they did. Or that the DNC murdered Seth Rich as a political hit job and covered it up, they did.

They can dish it out and they do that well. But they sure as hell can't take it. It would be like yelling "Red Sox suck!!!" in a bar full of Red Sox fans, just see how long you last before you get your ass kicked.

Last week he said to leave your family if you don't like being around them. I did this 2 years ago after most of my Trump family became toxic. So this week he tells us to not hate them. He made these comments while interviewing Megyn Kelly. He also made it appear that the cancel culture was to blame for her firing. No Bill, she is an awful person who has continuously made terrible comments about people. I will never forget the chyron on her show calling Michelle, Obama's baby mama!

Last week's message was about protecting yourself from the toxicity. This is necessary if the Trumpian relatives refuse to abide by the rule of not discussing politics. But even that doesn't mean you have to or should hate them. I was estranged from my own parents for 17 years, not because of politics but because of other toxic control issues, and at no time did I ever hate them. Fortunately over time I matured and they mellowed and the day came when I ran into them and realized they couldn't hurt me any more, and we reconnected, which was fortunate because I had years to spend with my mother before she died and I'm here to help my father as he approaches 80 years old. To this day he doesn't understand how that 17 years happened, and it's impossible for me to explain to him; it was unfortunate but necessary. I think that is the way Bill would advise approaching your toxic Trumpian relatives.

I do, however, HATE Nazis and racists.

I have a deeply rooted disdain of homophobes, sexists, fake Christians, and jailers of children. Not terribly interested to hear anything out of anybody denying science, promoting a national religion or abuse of poor people or seniors. Realizing that about myself leaves me completely on board with shipping every f***ing trumper off to Neptune on a slow boat. They offer nothing I consider valid.

I do not equate Republican ideas with trumpers, either. I still feel civil debate is vital to our continued democracy. While I disagree with true Republicans on many things, I feel it's important for us all to be open to the ideal of intelligent honest debate. It's a shame the GOP is currently infested by a bunch of corrupt sacks of crap who worship that orange anus to the point of pissing all over our shared Constitution.

YMMV, but Bill does not speak for me.

He keeps saying that you can't hate people who support Trump, then devotes his whole New Rules Segment to showing how much they earn their label Deplorable with the topper: threatening gun violence if their fascist dictator is lawfully removed from power.

The Cult of 45 are fully aware of the high crimes and treasonous acts he has committed. They are fully aware of all the immoral acts he has committed. His massive list of proven lies, His boorish manners, low intelligence, reckless spending racking up the deficit, repeatedly bringing us to the brink of WWIII, destroying the infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and trade. But They keep responding with the same three words: I.Don't.Care. Because all they care about is "owning the libs and making them cry" country be damned.

That is why I will always hate them.

Such a creature would not win. Democrats would stay home because if that candidate were against such an important right for half the human race, s/he would be untrustworthy when it came to the rest. Republicans would vote for the real thing, as usual.

He's right about Word Warriors, though no matter which side they're on. They're bullies.

However, you are correct in that most of the real tender little snowflakes are on the far right, which is why they've created an alternate universe for themselves. Cognitive dissonance is painful and the only way for them to avoid pain is to avoid the rest of us. This will not end well.
