We deserve truth, dammit, not more doubt.

Our local newspaper ran a headline suggesting that Democrats are seeking to nullify the last election. So I took advantage of their comment function:

No, it’s not about nullifying the last election. It’s also not about giving the president a fair hearing; it IS about giving We the People a fair hearing about extraordinary and consequential events that weigh heavily on our future. It’s about reclaiming and re-establishing the integrity of our elections, it’s about returning to the people of this country a reasonable trust that our voting processes are reliably uncorrupted by foreign interests. It’s about confirming the force of the Constitution and recommitting to its clear insistence on the separation of powers. As we approach another national election, this trial also illuminates, with sometimes uncomfortable clarity, the depth (or shallowness) of our representatives’ and senators’ devotion to their oaths of office. Given such considerations, the withholding of documentary evidence and witness testimony serves only to amplify doubt and darken the road ahead.
