CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC) St Lucia Saturday denied a cruise ship with more than 3,000 passengers on board entry in the Castries Harbour after health authorities confirmed that some passengers were experiencing respiratory tract infections.
But the Department of Health & Wellness denied reports that there may have been cases of the deadly coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that has killed more than 200 people in China and which the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared a global health emergency.

(12,383 posts)I was there last year, climbing around the active volcano. A shame for the passengers to miss this little beauty, but understandable.

(34,108 posts)Bathtub visibility right off the Anse Chastanet and out further and deeper. This was tons of years ago so it may not be the same. Incredible diving all around the island. When we went inland, at that time the roads were inexcusable. They had us take 2 spares because we would need them. We used them and had another flat and spent the day in the middle of nowhere, but beautiful nowhere, waiting for someone to come along and get us to someplace we could buy a tire. We were way up and nothing was close we could not walk that far and ever get back. Dumb us. All they did was warn us about liver flukes. Is that still a big problem there? LOL, I loved it and have always wanted to go back.
I bet that was fun for you! I too feel very sorry the passengers have to miss this pretty place.

(90,674 posts)...made sure of the respiratory illness of some passengers. There was concern it might have been Legionnaire's Disease or Norovirus or whatever was going around that year on cruise liners -- I don't remember what was decided, but as a resident I was pleased at the precautions.
