I need to send something to a group of about twenty people. I'll be using gmail. I want to put the first person on the list as the To: and bcc everyone else.
I'm pretty sure no one can tell that they get something as a bcc, instead of being the only recipient, but I want to be completely professional about this.
There will be, in the body of the email, what is essentially a cover letter telling everyone what I need back from them, and a giant PDF will be attached.
I will be using gmail to send this.
Can anyone help me here?
I realize I could just send out twenty different emails, but I may be doing similar things in the future.
Thanks.

(4,465 posts)You can always list yourself as the To if you are worried about it.

(2,947 posts)post says it may time out before all emails are sent.
It's more time consuming but as it's a "giant" PDF I would suggest breaking your email list into much smaller pieces (i.e. 2-4 at a time) --- all the while send all to your email address as the first and bcc others.
You never know how big the email site is on the receiving end. Will it be able to accept a "giant" PDF???
This is how I've always done it --- after learning from my mistakes.

(25,906 posts)Perhaps I think of it as giant because I'm not completely at home with current technology.
The person who first sent it to me assured me that modern computers have no problem handling something that size. He's probably right, because it came to me just fine, I had no trouble downloading and then saving it, and sending it off to some others.

(2,947 posts)so you can see if it will go through. 250 pages is a lot of data even for one email.

(25,906 posts)I went ahead and sent it out as suggested, with my own email as the first one.
Probably my idea of a giant attachment really isn't all that large. It's a PDF, in case that matters.

(62,444 posts)You mentioned the page size, but that has nothing to do with how large your .pdf might be.
If it is a gazillion gigabytes, there are ways to optimize .pdf compression.
Many people, depending on who they are, may use a system which limits their incoming file size, and you will not know they did not receive it.

(25,906 posts)There really is a lot I don't know.
I could send out another mass email asking them.
Generally speaking, would someone with a system that limits the incoming file size, and my file was too large, would they have any idea such an email was sent? Would I get a bounce back?

(42,388 posts)no one will see anyone else's email. Best way to assure their privacy.
I use it all the time.

(25,906 posts)I did do a bcc, with my own email address as the first, not bcc'd, recipient.
I did try some test versions, and sometimes I, as the first recipient, could see the others. I was testing by sending to three of my own email addresses.
