12. One of the best days of my life was when we had to stop saying a prayer every morning in public

school.

This was in western NY & every morning we had to recite the "Board of Regents" prayer. The nuns at Catechism told us little Catholic kids that we were not to say that prayer, just say a "Hail Mary" or "Our Father" to ourselves. Looking around my class the morning after we were given this instruction, not a single one of us had the nerve not to say it.

It's a horrible thing to be 6 years old and find out you don't have what it takes to be a martyr to the faith.

As a Methodist I wasn't 'saved' enough for the Baptists and Church of Christ kids. We used to have these morning devotions which often were led by students. the Baptists prayed long and the Methodists either did a "moment of silent prayer" or the Lord's Prayer. Methodists aren't trained from birth to pray on demand anyway.

It was a very happy day when we no longer had to listen to their prosletysing

She's planning on getting her nursing degree so Spanish would make sense. But, she did take French in high school, and if you want to immigrate to Canada you get extra points for knowing French.
