I have multiple sources inside the Justice Department that tell me when Barr became Attorney General he shut down *six* separate investigations into Trump and Trump related companies and surrogates.
I'm told Barr has also prevented *two new* investigations from moving forward.

FWIW. If this is true, this is extreme corruption on Barr's part.

(5,914 posts)While you were sleeping, the US Senate handed the president carte blanche to do absolutely anything he wants to stay in office, should he feel his reelection is in the best interest of the nation.
He's not going anywhere, and there is absolutely no one or nothing short of cardiovascular disease that will remove him.

(23,166 posts)If anything, he will order the military to protect him and imprison whoever the Dem nominee is because he will become an enemy of the USA and a traitor (for winning). That is far far more likely, military always obeys commands, it's what they do.

(23,166 posts)I think they will remove precincts in red states with Democratic areas wholesale, creating huge log jams where people have to leave the line because they have children to pick up and backing up all Dem party phone lines so results can't get through. They will use signature matching everywhere since it reduced Dem votes by 10s of thousands last time when it was used in FL, they will do things we have never ever considered, like misappropriating boxe(s) of votes as they did in Broward County, because we aren't criminal traitors like them. They will do this to create doubt and then he will say the election was rigged or stolen and declare it invalid - yes I do 100% think he would do that if he doesn't get the votes. His plan is to steal the election with massive help from Russia and probably SA and Israel and if he that doesn't work, to declare it invalid . Count on it. It seems bizarre, but these are the times we live in.

(23,166 posts)RW Russian Repug SCOTUS will definitely support their guy. They have already shown they put deference to their would-be king over the constitution and 100% certain - they will do it again if it comes to that. We have zero protections from treachery at this time.

I am a bit puzzled by this because it seems incomprehensible that someone who lost an election would decide to stay, and could stay. Someone like the military, or police, I have to assume, would have to take the reigns, pick him up and take him out.
This is a genuine question because when people say "he will refuse to leave", sounds like a done deal where no one can do anything about it.

(4,721 posts)There is a coup in progress; It began well before the 2016 election. No authority is willing to support our laws and our Concentration. The public, by in large, is flaccid and uncaring, totally distracted. The takeover is well established and meeting little true resistance. The House is weak, because our Construction is now nullified. A few million people in the streets until we see change would fix it. Rolling General strikes would fix it. That's not gonna happen here for a multitude of reasons: apathy, distraction, fear of our own government, fear of our own police.....
So, those of us who care find all of our eggs in one torn and leaking basket. Its a little unsettling.
With any luck, Ill be wrong on all counts.

(6,217 posts)Hopefully, someday a historian will follow the trail from 2000 to tRump. With some minor bumps (Obama & 2018 House win) in the RW long-range plan for complete sustained control of our Democracy. They have been picking away at the underpinning of our Democracy. Removing the checks and balances the founder put into our Constitution.
In between 2000 and 2020 they have stolen presidential elections, implement programs to suppress voting, gerrymandered states to solidify their congressional control, denied an elected president his right to appoint a SCOTUS justice, used the SCOTUS to enable dark money to influence elections (Citizen United), with Russian election interference they have installed a highly unqualified maniac in the WH, they have installed hundreds of RW judges in our federal court, they have destroyed the legislative branch of the government with the help of MoscowMitch AND NOW they will do whatever it takes to plant the maniac back in the WH for a second term.
They have taken us full circle from breaking away from a monarchy to installing a homegrown tyrannical monarch at the head of our government. A tyrant who already has plans to continue his dynasty starting with his firstborn.
What did I leave out...OH yes! A lasting war throughout the middle east, ignoring global warming aka climate change, a refusal to accept reusable energy source while continuing to pollute the environment with non-renewable oil and coal. To name a few additional RW ideas.

(4,341 posts)For some reason criminals do not seem to grasp the concept of consequences, they just push forward, they make decisions and never look at the side effects, they seem to believe they are going to get away with whatever crime they have just perpetrated.
A good example is a guy, many years ago, in California who kidnapped a 12 year old girl, raped her, killed her, threw her body in a bush, and two hours later was found in a bar drinking beer with some pals. There was no remorse, there was nothing. The criminal mind works very different and that is why it is hard for non-criminals to understand why they do the things they do.
The creature in the WH is one of those with a criminal mind, he has zero concept of consequences, which is what makes him, and Barr, so dangerous, and many of the republicans seem to have fallen into that frame of mind, they seem very confident they will not get caught, that their actions won't have any consequences, they don't even realize how foolish and how cowardly they look when they praise their leader in front of the cameras, like they did yesterday, they don't realize people are looking now at them with contempt, with pity, and shame.

(333 posts)They are working this now. They are going to cheat. The law does not apply to trump. So why would they let him depend on the american voters to win reelection? They won't. They are working on cheating him into reelection right now and the media is not reporting it because they too are "ALL IN". And they don't care. You all saw how he rigged the senate trial to his favor. What makes you think he will not cheat to remain in office!! IS ANYBODY PAYING ATTENTION!! Barr will not allow the DOJ to investigate or even observe this.... THEY NEED TO FIND A WAY TO GET BARR OUT, GET HIM DISBARRED. A HOUSE IS ONLY AS STRONG AS IT'S FOUNDATION, IF THEY DESTROY TRUMP'S FOUNDATION, HE WILL FALL.

(4,341 posts)What are Democrats doing to prevent this from happening? Are they being proactive to prevent the con's four more years? If they are depending on clean elections they are very naive, we can see from what happened in Iowa that republicans are set to cheat at all levels.

(32,626 posts)about people working in certain states to combat voting issues...but really each person, in each state, is responsible for their vote being cast and counted. It is the people who vote the Republicans into office, to oversee their elections, that can prevent this from happening. I think it is the state governments that will determine the future. The federal government is gone.

(10,106 posts)Was Iowa a test run of things Trumpies could do to confuse elections to the point where the results become unreliable? We need to express our concerns to the people running the election in all states to start putting them on notice that we are watching, especially in the swing states that carry the Electoral College advantage. Lots of daylight on the process will help.
