I'm sick and tired of these Jesus candidates like Santorum pining to usurp the Constitution...

In order to enact some kind of American theocracy (i.e., Sanctified KLEPTOCRACY).

If you're a woman or a child, a non-Christian or just plain decadent, a liberal or non-political, or a just plain lover of true liberty, these assholes have all of us square in their sights.

Not one of them should have any place in our government, not even as dog catcher.

They will tell you that their faulty interpretation of the Bible trumps any interpretation or application of American law. That, right there, should be an automatic disqualifier for office.

Public officials at every level are sworn to uphold constitutional laws, not religious dogma.

The mere fact that Santorum and those like him are allowed to show utter contempt for our Constitution and their fellow citizens who are protected under the Constitution from people like him should let us all know that our freedom to live as we see fit is at dire risk.

Yes, we have a long way to go before full equality for all is accomplished. However, progress is currently on the march.

The last thing that all of need is some crypto-fascist, fatwa issuing, overly-pious bigot lording over all of us with a massive entitlement complex, turning back whatever progress that has been made. Creating fear and hatred of "The Other" on a national scale.

This, we cannot abide.

Before you know it, these dangerous fools will be burning gays, Muslims, atheists and "witches" at the stake.

all their paranoia about sharia law taking root in american is completely insane, of course, but if they believe in governing according to jesus's wishes and the instruction in the bible, then they're doing nothing but legitimizing the imposition of sharia law, should there eventually be enough advocates of it here.

I suppose all Christians must be Republican and/or conservatives who are bigoted against gays and Muslims, right? I don't suppose there is such a thing as a gay person who is a Christian, right?

As for me, I don't really care if a candidate is Christian or Buddhist or whatever, it doesn't bother me, as long as I am fairly represented in my government by an honest person with integrity, that's what matters the most to me.

if the Christians that were true Christians were running for office, I don't think this would be such an issue and Christianity itself wouldn't be so polarizing if it weren't for these specific Christian nut bags.

I don't think all Christians are out to create a theocracy but I think Santorum (or Bachmann if she were still in the race, maybe even Romney) would prefer to do away with the Constitution and replace it with the bible. That reflects badly on all Christians and the Christian religion. Sorta like radical Muslims give all Muslims a bad name. Yet, if I railed on about radical Muslims, I doubt anyone would post that not all Muslims are that way, because we're smart enough to know that we're not referring to every one in the community.

I specifically wrote about Santorum and people like him who would impose theocratic laws if or when they get the chance.

If you've been listening to Santorum, he himself have outlined his intention to restrict gay rights if elected, whether those gays are themselves Christian or otherwise.

A candidate's own religious beliefs are not at question here. What is at question is the extent at which theocrats would disregard American SECULAR law in order to impose religious law on us all.

People like that couldn't give a rat's ass about fairness and integrity for people that they classify as "sinners".

Ricks sanctimonious bullshit is just a front for what he is really about. He was the engineer of K Street, the instrument of making our government a slave of corporate interests and the 1%, instead of a servant of the people. K street ran out of control until Abrahmov and Delay were busted. somehow Santorum slithered out of any charges. IMHO someone paid big money to keep the heat off of Ricky.
I am more than delighted that the GOP has had the bad judgement to trot him out into public view again. He is a reminder of everything horrible about the Bush administration. He is the living face of everything evil, corrupt and hateful about the right wing.
