Valentine's Day 2020 - at Home and on DU
My wife and I have been together for 29 years now. Valentine's Day is still something we celebrate. This year, my wife found a lovely orchid plant when she woke up, and I found the two bags of dark chocolate-covered Brazil nuts she orders for me every year. We both got each other Valentine's Day cards that light up and play music. One year, we got each other the exact same card, but not this year. Tonight, instead of trying to get into a restaurant, I'll make a fancy pasta dish for dinner. After 29 years, we still love each other - a lot!
I've only been on DU for about 12 years, but Valentine's Day is important here, too. DUers help pay for DU to stay online and hand out little red hearts to other DUers. It's a wonderful tradition, and many, many posts have thanked secret admirers for hearts the poster wasn't expecting. Wonderful. I have some little red hearts, too. I don't know who gave them to me, but it's a wonderful thing for which I'm very, very grateful.
Marriage and some online forums are all about respect and caring for others. I'm glad to have two situations where those things are valued. Thanks to my wife and to everyone on DU who has shown respect and caring for other DUers!
