will utah republicans call on romney to resign?
or will they begin a recall drive?
“Mitt Romney was the only Republican senator who voted guilty last week on one of the impeachment counts brought against President Trump by House Democrats. Many Republicans were furious at Romney, and a sizable number of GOP voters are ready to throw him out of the party,” writes Rasmussen. https://bongino.com/utah-republicans-consider-calling-for-romney-to-immediately-resign-after-sham-impeachment-vote/

1. Some rumblings but polls show Romney has sufficient public support to weather

2. Yep. If he didn't have the support,
he likely would not have voted the way he did in Mitch's Kangaroo Court. His fellow Mormons are just as disgusted with Trump as is Romney. He's most likely pretty safe.
Not to mention that the link in the OP comes from the web site of noted wingnut Dan Bongino. So, you know it's bullshit. |

3. I wonder where they got their responses?
Sanpete County has less than .9% of the population of Utah. Less than 28,000 population.
How much weight did they give to counties with low population compared to Salt Lake County? 20 of the 29 counties have less than 50,000. |

4. Amazing how Utah works.
Romney could shot someone in Temple Square and get away with it.
In Utah it is all about your Linage to the Founders. Willard is a member of that Club. |

5. I have several customers who live in and around SLC
and they tell me there are bill boards popping up thanking Romney for his vote to convict/remove. Go figure.

6. THOSE billboards are more likely paid for by liberals who are stuck there.
It’s one of our shortcomings I think. That in addition to being willing to forgive, to give second chances, etc. (I approve of all of that stuff) we mistakenly presume better motives for people of whom we should know better.
But time after time, (Mueller, Roberts, Bolton, Kelly, etc) we treat these people when they do something that we even only perceive as being in favor of our ideals, as if they are “coming back into the fold”, or they are our ally now, or something. It’s frustrating as hell. Mitt is not our friend, and we can’t rely on him. |

7. United States Senators cannot be "recalled"
The Constitution sets the term for a Senator and provides the only mechanism for removing a Senator: expulsion upon the vote of 2/3 of the Senate.
Moreover, I believe that Utah is one of the states that doesn't have any provision in its constitution or statutes that even allows for the recall of a state official. |

10. Yep! Isn't it amazing how people don't know anything about their government.

8. Just to clarify this Romney thing: You don't have to be a Utah reTHUGlican to call for him to
resign, and the impeachment vote doesn't have to be your motivation. Now please proceed...

11. Wonder how Bongino's insight has any credibility considering he is not a Utah native or resident?
And he had two failed congressional campaigns.
