go to public health facilities if they think they are getting the flu? I have a feeling that many may go untreated and spread the germs due to policies put in place by this administration.

(23,337 posts)my 14 year old kiddo was sick in early February. On the 3rd day into it, I didnt think he just had a cold so I took him into a walk in clinic...he tested positive for influenza B. The Dr. prescribed Tamiflu. The Dr appointment fee was $160 and the Tamiflu cost another $80. It was all out of pocket since our deductible is $4500 per person. Thats a chunk of cash for a lot of folks.

(51,623 posts)One day in the hospital costs about $1,000 too. My friend's husband just got a bill for $60,000 for 2 1/2 days in the hospital last week (they have insurance and supplemental). The last time I had to go for 4 days the bill was $30,000+. Even with my insur I had to pay over $1000 out of pocket. That was my food budget for several months. I ate oatmeal day and night since that is all I could afford.

(51,623 posts)So many teachers were sick that they wouldn't hire any more subs and doubled up on the number of kids in the remaining classrooms. They pressured teachers to work while sick too. That does NOT help people get better.
