ER and doctor's office can be contaminated. Haven't heard anything about this.

(45,806 posts)Basically they tell you to call your doctor for advice. They will tell you what the protocol is for your area and be able to set the proper gears in motion for you. Take a min. to read it.

(86,730 posts)should probably make a few phone calls, like the ER and ask them how you should proceed in getting help. That way they can prepare for someone who needs to be isolated upon arrival, it takes a little set up time.

(8,144 posts)not wait to get worse. Stay hydrated. See your doctor or urgent care or go to ER. People die from
complications. Even with the flu. Especially if older or other health problems. Just read other post. Yes. Call ahead. If in doubt, call advice nurse.

(58,785 posts)Seeking medical care ASAP if symptoms seem to get worse is advised by everyone, though. Apparently cases that are going to become serious can progress very quickly.
Good news is that the overall mortality rate may be below 1%. Because it's so communicable, though, there's still the possibility that local and regional hospitals could fill up and the numbers of deaths become large anyway.
