What concerns Americans is the indisputable fact that Trump is a complete fuсkup who has absolutely no idea how to handle a crisis, regardless of what the crisis happens to be.

(63,849 posts)sometimes this foul disgusting regime we have wants to see Americans suffer and cause chaos. Maybe "corona" will find its way to those who think that they are infallible.

(21,565 posts)if i felt like the government was giving the CDC whatever resources and the freedom it needs to control the spread of this, i would be much less worried. but instead drumpf has muzzled the CDC and slashed their funding. He appears to only care how this affects the stock market and by proxy, hi re-election chances.
The most terrifying aspect of all this is that NO ONE is at the helm of this ship.
Would like to see the House step in, bring in the CDC to ask publicly what funding and resources they need, and get a package passed to the Senate ASAP.

(22,121 posts)stuff to a CV bill for the CDC efforts to rein in CV, thus delaying the passage of a funding bill ... rump has already missed the boat I think seriously, by not having plans in place to rapidly ID suspected cases of CV and thus allowed the spread of CV far more than what it should have been. The coming weeks/months will be key...and rump certainly isn't reassuring anyone (nor pence)...
The spotlight will shine very brightly on these idiots now, and they can't avoid the spotlight...they are trying to muzzle the NIH and/or CDC voices (by claiming that we need a central voice/central point of contact) but I think that state and/or territorial health depts., as will as some of the Senate repugs (a surprise!) will demand more information on CV and thus cause some serious conflicts w/ rump - pence. States have worked in the past w/ the CDC and / or NIH, and thus, interfering w/ this normal coordination as rump / pence are doing isn't a good thing.
One of the most best ways to fight the spread of CW is providing the public w/ timely information, and they've muzzled it, in a vain attempt to control the messaging. Won't work and it will probably backfire, especially if and when something critical is delayed in getting out for public consumption

(50,557 posts)Trump is already talking about tax cuts. Assume that any CV bill Trump wants contains wall funding and tax cuts.

(55,445 posts)With halfway competent leadership grounded in fact and reality, I wouldn't be worried at all... But there is a very real chance Trump could end up killing off a large chunk of us...

(11,738 posts)My initial reaction was, that Covid-19 concerns me greatly, but in the second reading, I agree. We have had other pandemics or the beginnings of pandemics with SARS and H1N1 but you are right, we had a functioning government and an administration that was interested in actually helping the people.
This guy is not only stupid, he is evil. He is more interested in what the situation will do to his image and re-election than what it may do to people. He only cares about himself and only on the cheapest dirtiest and least amount of work that he can do to bolster his image to his followers.
Without diminishing the seriousness of the possible spread of Covid-19 and the effects, there have been others (as I mentioned) that turned into nothing serious, but again, that was because of the response of health officials. This is more serious because we have a complete administration of idiots and assholes.
