Pete Buttigieg is suspending his campaign.

Just heard on CNN. An aide said Buttigieg has decided to end it for now. He will announce it at 8PM.

Steyer's votes and Buttigieg's votes will likely go to Biden, the panel is saying.

Is this in the wrong forum?

3. Maybe the forum police will let this one ride. The ripple effect will go way beyind the primaries.

This national news now, as it could affect more than just the primaries down the road. Mayor Pete's move, especially its timing, might just have affected the outcome in November, as well as the makeup of the administration that takes over in January.

just in case.

This will effect Super Tues, especially CA where a lot of people were assuming Bernie would win but this changes things. He is getting more endorsements, donations, and votes from Steyer and Pete voters perhaps.

to form a Cabinet in Absentia until we regain the POTUS and Senate and retain the House.

Imagine a Democratic Virus Czar (rather than Pence) with a staff and advisers made of adults and scientists and functioning and staffed CDC and other involved agencies. The public could see each day what we Democrats would be doing were we in office while the GOP Trumpsters flounder in insane nasty incompetence.

10. The Cabinet can be chosen as soon as we have a president

A former neighbor of my parents in Virginia used to work in the Clinton White House, moved out to the Bay Area when Bush, Jr. was installed. He was preparing to move back to DC as incoming EPA director in the summer of 2016. The best laid plans of mice and men.

If we take the White House, I say we retain the House as well. The Senate is a more uphill battle. It would be a miracle if we retain our Alabama seat, so we would need to flip five to take the majority. With enough momentum, we just MIGHT make it. We would need to flip not only Colorado, Arizona, and Maine (so far, so good), but also North Carolina and Iowa, and those last two will be tough nuts to crack--not impossible, but a lot of stars would have align just right for that to happen.

The test is whether we can hold together as a Party because in a vey real way the very nature of reality is at stake.

7. Wrong forum, but glad to hear it. Hope he & Steyer explicitly toss their votes to Biden.

I respect both him and Tom Steyer for attending the ceremony /march at the bridge even though they are no longer running.

Pete defended Hunter in that one debate more strenuously than even Joe did, and they mostly speak well of each other.

Add to that, Joe lost a son and Pete recently lost his father.

It's doubtful Pete would be in contention for Joe's VP, since Joe already telegraphed an African American woman for that post. But Pete has a bright future, whether in his state, the Congress, or a future Dem administration. And my money says Uncle Joe will be a friend and ally.

15. Considering all the vitriol in the Primaries forum, can you blame them?

That forum is no longer a discussion, but a place for cyber megaphones. At least one full-time staffer of one of the campaigns is on there, posting every time the boss blows his nose. "My candidate just polled 67% in a town of 3 people! Victory is ours! Get used to it!"

You can't even post there without declaring a preference or the lack of one, thereby cutting out anyone who doesn't want to play that game, yours truly included.. So people switch (natural), and some deceptively use the "undecided" icon when they are obviously anything but.

There are some who think that board IS "the wrong forum." I look every day, but haven't seen any change in months except for the deletion of the icons of those candidates who dropped out, and the increase in shrillness of a few who post there.

You’ve got a point.

I see the same posters posting crap about each other’s candidate again and again.

The latest rage seems to be posting to prove THIS candidate’s supporters are worse than THAT candidate’s supporters!

All discussion of which candidate has positions that are realistic and will take us somewhere (or, in the case of Trump, repair the damage) has been drowned out. Therefore I don't blame in the slightest anyone who has something coherent to say that might touch on the Democratic candidates, and posting it in GD. Posting it on the primaries board at this point, ironically enough, seems to be the last place to start a coherent discussion.
