Coronavirus live updates: UK to hold emergency meeting while Australia reports first community transmission

Bad news but to be expected with cheap open international travel.....
A mass outbreak in India would be very bad for the world, IMO.

India said on Monday two people in the country had tested positive for coronavirus. According to Reuters:
One case was detected in the capital New Delhi, while the other was in the southern state of Telangana, the government said in a statement.
The patients had a travel history from Italy and the United Arab Emirates, respectively, the statement said. Both patients were stable and being closely monitored.

Due to poverty and lack of medical care there.

(16,616 posts)4. Yeah, I didn't want to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt,
but I heard some type of expert last week on Bloomberg Radio say that if/when it got into India it would be a "worst-case scenario." His words, not mine.
Also, since India isn't an authoritarian state like China, efforts at containment or quarantine are going to be difficult, maybe impossible.
Then there are the so-called "slums of Delhi" that are immense and densely, densely populated.
