(454 posts)Clinton gave probably the best convention speech ever...like...in history, and you're complaining he didn't re-hash an issue from 18 years ago?
Some people really are never happy.

(37,648 posts)the nostalgia of Clinton, and his help is needed, and he is beloved.
But he did indeed do NAFTA and start the outsourcing ball rolling. And he was warned, we were all warned, what NAFTA would do. Which it has done.

(7,572 posts)....debating it for years, and the weaknesses threshed out and debated, especially about environmental concerns, workers' rights, etc... Clinton had promised in his campaign that he would make changes pertaining to those things. I'm not sure now just what changes, if any, were made, and it finally did go through under his signature. He cannot be blamed for thinking up and developing the whole thing. Too many people, R & D wanted it, it was already developed and in motion when he came into office. I think few people realized what the full ramifications of the trade deal were going to be. That's a very brief synopsis of how it went through, books could be written, and probably have been about the whole story.

(19,458 posts)Seriously... I swear you can't please everyone. The 99% of the other speeches were HEAVY in referencing labor and unions. Why did you think that that most of the crowd shots showed the UAW signs waving like crazy???
