Today at my yard sale a Mexican-American lady asked me if my Obama-Biden lawn sign was for sale. I told her no, but that I had another one and if she was going to put it in her yard that I'd give it to her. She said she has the picture of President Obama with Michelle and the girls in her house and she loves it. She left with a big smile on her face and my extra yard sign. Then an older white guy asked my husband if he'd seen Clinton's speech. When Dave said yes, he smiled and said, That was quite a speech." Aren't old white guys supposed to be Republican voters? It was a good day. And we made $160.00.

(12,882 posts)The other day I got distracted with a phone call and left 3 Dem bumper stickers laying on the trunk of my car. My intention had been to add them to the ones already on my back window. Anyways, I drove off and didn't think about the stickers til I got halfway cross town. Damn!
Next day I'm talking to my neighbor. He tells me he found 3 cool bumper stickers just laying in the street. I started laughing - knowing exactly where they'd come from. It's all good cause he put them on HIS cars!

(7,887 posts)Told a guy today out at a park event to release monarch butterflies that I liked his Obama - Biden shirt and he told me to make sure and get out to vote - it's shaping up to be a close race he said.
Told him I am working on doing absentee ballot. I just started a new job and with the shenanigans the rethugs are pulling around the country, I don't want to have to be out all day. (Plus if there are any problems voting that way, I will know and have a second opportunity to get it right.)
Also told him about Ohio victory. He hadn't heard about it and didn't seem to know what I meant about Repubs putting votes under the table sometimes if they can get away with it.
So nice guy, got his priorities straight, isn't afraid to show it, but probably not hugely political.

(27,787 posts)I bought 4 in 2008 because I figured they'd get stolen. But with a 2 weeks to go to the election, I still had three spares. SO on one of those last Saturdays, I was with some friends at my daughter's softball game.
Politics is usually not a topic at these games, but there in the parking lot after the same, so close to the election, one of the parents said they liked my Obama car magnet. Another agreed. They were all voting for Obama. So I mentioned that I also had one of the yard signs at my house. And they each said they were sorry they had not ordered car magnets or yard signs.
So I offered them my 3 spare yard signs. They said yes, and so I brought them to our next practice. When other parents saw me giving these out at the next practice, 2 others asked me if I had more. I didn't have more, but I told them where they could get them in Cary NC (was where I got them).
Here in NC, a pro-Obama magnet might get you yelled at by a right wing nut, but it can also lead to getting another Obama supporter to get their own magnets / yard signs.

(127 posts)at DU and everywhere else. I really didn't mean to imply that I think all of you are lunatic right wingers or even conservatives. I know many people in demographics that would be expected to be conservative but are anything but. It was just a rhetorical question. I love you guys. My Dad was a liberal old white guy before he died. His influence is what made me a liberal and taught me to care about others and defend my position with facts and reality. I would love for him to be here and to be able to discuss the state of politics now.
And thanks so much for all the Rec's. I am honored.
Edited for spelling of apologize.

(7,968 posts)Me and the father of my future daughter-in-law had a great conversation last weekend about "our guy" Obama and his position in the polls.
Two "old white guys" in my town who are very solid Obama!

When they were young white guys they stood with us young women in our fights for equality and choice and helped levitate the Pentagon to protest The War (even those lucky deferents). And all the ones I know personally still support womens rights.
