Facebook "Fact-Checking" (FYI)

I posted on my Facebook Feed over the weekend about Trump referring to the Coronavirus as a "hoax". I happened to go back to my profile and noticed that my post had been flagged with a "Fact-Check" link to "Check Your Fact", which argued that Trump's "hoax" comment had been taken out of context/misinterpreted (basically a Trump apologetic). I later noticed that this "fact checker" was associated with the right-wing Daily Caller and went back to the internet and found an article from April of last year (which I'm sure probably showed up here at some point too) reporting that the Daily Caller's "Check Your Fact" is being used by Facebook to "fact check" articles. So, yes, this *is* a very real thing that Facebook is doing.

Note: I'm NOT planning to leave Facebook and not interested in any replies advising me to quit it, but I just wanted to share this story and point out that it IS a very real thing and I expect that we'll see more of it throughout this Election season.

Everyone had a good time with that one.

Daily Caller shouldn't be involved in anything involving facts. That's insane on Facebook's part, though not terribly surprising.

I know you and other faithful FB users don't want to hear it, but FB is hurting ALL of us and your use enables it. Harsh, I know, but undeniable. I AM sorry if that offends you, but I am hoping SOMETHING wakes people up to the damage being done.
