Trump, with assistance from republicans has divided this country as never before
It’s worse than back in the Vietnam days, and I think particularly scary since so much is based on outright lying. I really wonder if even if the democrats take back the senate and presidency if this country can recover. I don’t really think so. For one thing the law that news be factual would be a first step and there are too many who have decided to only believe things that reinforce their existing beliefs. I suppose it would be possible to turn that around if things get extreme enough. Like nazi Germany being destroyed down to its foundations. Maybe this virus will shake things up enough so that reasonable people get elected and that will help, but there is a large swath of people in this country so willfully ignorant I think we are screwed. The only real hope I see is if the younger population steers a different course. They seem to be heading the right way, at least the ones who pay attention. But I think most of them are still apathetic. Still, that’s better than being card carrying Trumpster at least.
