(CNN) - The United States surgeon general said Sunday that he thinks the coronavirus outbreak is being contained in certain areas of the country as cases of the virus rise across the United States.

"If we had massive numbers of cases we would be seeing more deaths. And so we actually feel pretty good that some parts of the country have contained it just like when you look at the flu," Surgeon General Jerome Adams told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." His comments come as the number of cases in the US has increased to more than 440, spanning 32 states and the District of Columbia, and resulting in at least 19 deaths.

Adams continued Sunday, saying: "And when we look at the flu tracker, some parts of the country are having much more severe flu seasons. Some are having very mild flu seasons. The same thing for coronavirus."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on "Fox News Sunday" that the passengers aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship, currently quarantined off the coast of California, should "absolutely not" be left on the ship.

On Friday i posted that “flyover” country seemed not to have COVID-19 cases. Sunday? Not the case anymore.

The Johns Hopkins data still showing only 8 recovered, so there’s no telling at this stage how it’s going to go from here. The reports over refusals to test are awful in so many ways, not least in concealing the full effects of the disease.

Go look at the CDC site for the number tested (that number was taken down at lesast a week ago)
When that was pointed out - he pointed to the FDA Commissioner transcripts, which described the number of tests run (5000), not the number of people tested.

As a cruise ship with nearly 3,000 stranded travelers prepares to dock Monday in the Port of Oakland, top health officials warned that the country has entered a new stage in dealing with the deadly coronavirus — one in which containment is no longer possible.

“We’re past the point of containment,” Dr. Scott Gottlieb, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration during the first two years of President Trump’s administration, said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“We have to implement broad mitigation strategies. The next two weeks are really going to change the complexion in this country. We’ll get through this, but it’s going to be a hard period. We’re looking at two months, probably, of difficulty,” Gottlieb said.

U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said that shifting to a mitigation phase means that communities will see more cases and need to start thinking about whether it makes sense to cancel large gatherings, close schools and make it more feasible for employees to work from home.

they say in 2016 there was no evidence of any tampering with the votes...but no one ever counted the votes, against the totals. Kind of hard to get a virus count, when you have no tests, and/or have strict parameters for those 'eligible' for a test.
