Does Romney still risk losing some RW voters?

I am watching Romney saying that he will replace Obamacare with something like Romneycare, his successful Massachusetts program.

Romney spent the entire primary season pretending that Romneycare (a chief inspiration for Obamacare) never existed.

Is the reason he did that simply not longer operative? Can Romney now come out for "socialized medicine?"

I will grant that the tea-party will not switch to Obama, and I will grant that most tea-partiers will vote Romney as the most racist and irresponsible thing to do on election day.

But I cannot imagine Obama suddenly saying, "We need new restrictions on Abortion" now that the convention is behind him and he no longer needs to face the grass-roots.

Doing so would dispirit and depress the Democratic vote.

I wonder if Romney is correct in thinking that he can reach out to the 4-8% of actual persuadable voters without doing damage to his base turn-out.

We will see...

The rabid Right Wingers see the tantalizing prospect of electing a "real" conservative in 2016. I think some will vote for the
down- ticket races and not the top slot.

They don't really like Mitt, but they really hate Obama.

I have no idea what he was thinking. How could a Ron Paul speech have been any wose than the parade of assholes they did allow, each one jockeying for 2016 and barely mentioning Romney?

If my personal inbasket is any indication, those guys bailed out emotionally as soon as Romney did that. I don't think many of them will vote for Obama, but I bet most of them don't vote for Romney.

Of course, I did my part to make sure they understood how badly their guy was dissed by Romney

for the fundie vote. He's trying to go 20 directions at once, whereas he was only going the wingnut direction up through the convention.

But if Sarah Palin couldn't pull it off while practically wearing a leopard skin, Ryan sure as hell won't, either.

Soon many of them will realize that they can preserve their remaining dignity and keep their taxes low by staying home.

And many of those are Ron Paulites. They'll write in Paul or vote Johnson just to spite the repubs because that means more to them then getting Obama out. And I think there will be some that stay home rather than vote for a Mormon - the same type that thinks it you close your eyes and plug your ears whatever it is they're avoiding will go away.
