Everybody has some health care concerns at some time. It's part of life. Her current status is unknown but she looks well. Yet she uses her MS to deflect any criticism of her or her Mittens.
Today Willard quoted Lech Walesa as being critical of Obama. Is Willard's diplomatic plan is to use his wife's MS as an excuse for any hostile nation's comments?

(4,458 posts)Don't have the money/ins to afford the kind of treatment Ann gets-Everytime she brings up Her experiences with MS, I remember those who are Way less fortunate, have to keep working at non-compatible jobs, have no help at home w/kids etc and Suffer at the decisions her husband has made and will make.
She ought to think about that and shut the hell up.

(50,344 posts)and that is an acknowledgement or any recognition of her access to the best treatment, the best available healthcare is due to her wealth, no inclusion of those less fortunate with the same health issue who CANNOT access the same treatment.
It is as if she is the ONLY person suffering from MS and that she should be given the position of First Lady because of it.
It does not make me feel more sympathetic for her, it actually makes me less so.

(8,646 posts)And it makes me think of Michelle Obama's dad getting up for work every morning despite barely being able to walk. I'd bet he didn't get the same treatment Ann Romney got either. Yet, you hardly hear about that...although they did mention it at the convention.

That question is without a doubt going to come up. I'd love to see Obama work it into the debates.

(6,904 posts)Mitt claimed that he liked the preexisting and keeping children on policy longer parts and took opportunity to state that he did that under his health plan in MA, the same plan he's been repudiating for years. He will claim to like anything, if he thinks that it will gain votes. what he says and what he says are two different things.

(7,712 posts)Man Dies From Toothache, Couldn't Afford Meds
By CARRIE GANN (@carrie_gann) , ABC News Medical Unit
Sept. 2, 2011
A 24-year-old Cincinnati father died from a tooth infection this week because he couldn't afford his medication, offering a sobering reminder of the importance of oral health and the number of people without access to dental or health care.
According to NBC affiliate WLWT, Kyle Willis' wisdom tooth started hurting two weeks ago. When dentists told him it needed to be pulled, he decided to forgo the procedure, because he was unemployed and had no health insurance.
When his face started swelling and his head began to ache, Willis went to the emergency room, where he received prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medications. Willis couldn't afford both, so he chose the pain medications.
The tooth infection spread, causing his brain to swell. He died Tuesday.

(1,186 posts)... and costs thousands of dollars. I've heard of patients with a good job with health insurance. The treatment required them to be off work for a prolong period. Because of the missed work, they get fired and lose their health insurance. COBRA is six times what they previously were paying and is unaffordable without any income. They were unable to continue with follow up treatment.
Think Queen Anne had any of these problems?

(5,442 posts)I feel that her complaints are entirely about having to deal with life not being the smooth, easy path that she believes she's entitled to. Everyone has health challenges, that's why we all need medical care. Where is it written that she's above "all that"?

(10,559 posts)I do not think a devoted husband whose spouse has MS has the time to both run a country and "be there" for a stricken spouse. And lest I be accused of bringing up just the Dem side of the house (and a good woman named Elizabeth with a fallible spouse), I think the Republicans can agree with the problem - right, Mr. Gingrich?

They do it mostly to try to connect with people of shared experiences. It's one of many tools used.
