Scarsdale High School was closed Monday after a teacher at a middle school in the district tested positive for the virus.

Parents, students and educators across New York on Monday morning grappled with the growing possibility that more schools would need to close in what would be the most disruptive measure yet in the local effort to curb the coronavirus outbreak.
Thousands of students at suburban public schools and private universities discovered Sunday that their schools would be mostly or entirely shuttered for the entire week.
The virus has spread quickly throughout the New York region. On Monday morning, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said 142 cases had been confirmed statewide, including the head of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Rick Cotton.
Mr. Cotton, who oversees the region’s airports and other transportation infrastructure, was being quarantined, and his team was being tested for the virus.
