Mitt Romney predicted that "chronic, high unemployment" would persist for the next four years if President Obama is re-elected in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."
If this president's re-elected you're going to see chronic high unemployment continue for another four years or longer. You're going to see low wage growth, if any growth at all. And of course there'll always be this fiscal calamity at our doorstep.
Romney response dismissed experts who predict, as host David Gregory mentioned, that 12 million new jobs will be created over the next four years without any changes to current policy. Instead, Romney said his economic plan will grow 12 million jobs over the next four years.

Dear Mitt, remember Bush? He's the guy who destroyed the economy and whose policies you're pushing. Only difference is your policies will be Bush's on steroids. You're a so-call businessman taking economic policy cues from Bush. LOL!

A month ago, when an encouraging jobs report was released, Mitt Romney went on the attack -- it didn't matter how many jobs were created, he said, what matters is the unemployment rate. In that case, job growth exceeded expectations, but since the jobless rate ticked up a fraction of a point, the GOP candidate felt somehow vindicated.
This morning, Romney and Republicans are saying the exact opposite -- what matters is how many jobs were created, not the unemployment rate, which inched lower.
When it comes to intellectual seriousness and consistency, this is a ridiculous way of presenting information to the public.
That said, for many Americans who don't keep up with the details, the unemployment is, for all intents and purposes, the only figure that matters, because it's what they most closely associate with the health of the economy. And as of this morning, the unemployment rate is down to 8.1% -- the lowest it's been since President Obama took office.

Macroeconomic Advisers on the American Jobs Act, proposed a year ago:
We estimate that the American Jobs Act (AJA), if enacted, would give a significant boost to GDP and employment over the near-term.
-The various tax cuts aimed at raising workers after-tax income and encouraging hiring and investing, combined with the spending increases aimed at maintaining state & local employment and funding infrastructure modernization, would:
-Boost the level of GDP by 1.3% by the end of 2012, and by 0.2% by the end of 2013.
-Raise nonfarm establishment employment by 1.3 million by the end of 2012 and 0.8 million by the end of 2013, relative to the baseline
Of course, it that had happened, Obama would be more or less a lock for reelection. Instead, having blocked the presidents economic plans, Republicans can point to weak job growth and claim that the presidents policies have failed.

In September 2011, Republicans blocked the American Jobs Act and up to 2 million jobs

(116,464 posts)full of shit:
A week ago I noted that Mitt Romneys convention speech included a sudden lurch into weaponized Keynesianism, the doctrine that government spending destroys jobs unless its spending on defense contractors, in which case its the lifeblood of the economy.
Well, in case you thought that this was some random line inserted into his speech, this theme government spending is great as long as its for destructive purposes! is now the theme of a massive ad blitz.

Business men, and Republicans love crap wages for workers. That's why Romney, and his Republican friends support right for employers to screw you over states.
