Pneumonia Shots?

Has anybody else got or considering getting Pneumonia shots because of Covid-19? I haven't had many respiratory issues since I was in Middle-School (I used to get Bronchitis and Pneumonia about once a year for awhile) but since Covid-19 can cause Pneumonia, I reckoned that it might be a good idea to get a Pneumonia shot in the event that I do get it to, hopefully, avoid having it go into Pneumonia. It's covered by my insurance as a preventative, as it may likely be under the ACA in general, so I'm figuring that it couldn't hurt. Have there been any discussions about more people- outside of the elderly whom are normally recommended to get it- getting it or thinking about getting it (I'm in my early 40's for context)?

because he tended toward inflammation and fluid in his giant lungs. He hasn't had a problem with it since. He's 65.

from pneumonia caused by the pneumococcal bacteria, which is quite serious for older adults).

Obviously, you don't want pneumonia at all, not to mention damaged lungs as a result of either cause, so being vaccinated with the pneumococcal vaccine is important to do if you are 65 yo or older or meet the other criteria for younger people.

that the viral pneumonia associated with COVID doesn't care about your pneumonia shot. For a week or two I was feeling pretty smug about finishing my pneumonia series before this crisis. Then somebody here pointed out the sad fact. Scared.

all kinds of immunizations and vaccines. I had a pneumonia booster a few months ago, in addition to Tdap and all the others last year.

The pneumococcal vaccine is absolutely worth getting done.

acute respiratory distress due to this virus or the flu can be an immune overreaction that overwhelms the lung tissue, not necessarily a viral or bacterial-caused pneumonia in the traditional sense of fluid pooling in the lung bases with an infection settling there.

whether you need it or not at forty should be something you discuss with your physician.

I would imagine taking a pneumonia shot for coronavirus is like taking a measles shot for the mumps.
But then again: what would I know about it, I'm not your physician, who you should ask this sort of question.

Pneumococcal disease is a serious infection caused by a bacteria. Pneumococcal bacteria can infect the sinuses and inner ear. It can also infect the lungs, blood, and brain and these conditions can be fatal.

Pneumococcal polysaccharides vaccine (PPSV) is used to prevent infection caused by pneumococcal bacteria. PPSV contains 23 of the most common types of pneumococcal bacteria.

It's one of the easiest vax I ever had. The new Shingles vax made me sick with fever, aches, etc.

It's probably not a bad idea since your respiratory system is compromised.

That said, I got mine. With my luck, I'd die from bacterial pneumonia simply because the hospitals would be full of Coronavirus patients and I can't get treated.

I just spent a week in the hospital with pneumonia, and it was no joke. A working shot a while back might have saved me a lot of grief.

Aside from that, if you get pneumonia before you are exposed to Covid, a flu, or whatever, you immune system could be overwhelmed and make things worse.

I suspect your doctor knows best.

...Yes, I got pneumonia even though I had a pneumonia shot. How is that possible?..Well, I was told there are 40 different kinds of pneumonia that is why. I was lucky because I recovered very quickly from the pneumonia.

Didn't get many questions or comments about it. I was a little skeptical about the nurse's comments about COVID-19 (again trying to compare it to the flu)
