Its based upon the SP500, not the DOW, and triggers at 7% - just FYI.
One other thing to watch, sometimes the drop isnt as dramatic as futures would indicate initially. If that happens its bad because it means there are no buyers. The stock price wont actually change until there is a buyer and seller. Some stocks Monday took over 30 minutes until the first trade went through- and it was down 22%. Europe had more examples Monday.

(20,709 posts)4. I'd go with 20% chance. S&P futures are down 2.5% right now.
Circuit breaker is at 7%, so it's still a ways to go. But volatility is crazy, so it definitely could happen.
