Republicans are refusing to pass a bill that has
- free coronavirus testing
- paid emergency medical leave
- extended unemployment insurance
- food assistance
- help for health care workers. Call their offices, tell them to get their shit together and do it. Thanks.

(36,461 posts)The GOP wants the help in the form of tax breaks to defund the government. Then they can go after SS/Medicare. It's always socialism when taxes go to help We the People, but it's just good business when taxes go to industry or the already wealthy.
We have a winner!

(5,801 posts)that "government is the problem, not the solution," starting in earnest with raygun. They have been selling "small government" and doing everything they can to destroy the Federal government. They don't want people to see that government can help people, or that it is really the only entity that could tackle a problem of this scope.

(8,914 posts)Greedy One Percent (GOP) constituents don't want it and are ordering them to vote it down.
Their bribe, I mean donation, has to pay for something.
They don't give a $hit about the other 99%.

(16,784 posts)Just wait until they or members of their staffs come down with this virus. The economic hardships we are set to go through with will be tough.
I am ready to suffer so to speak. Not from the virus, but from changes in my economic outlook. I will be okay, but I worry for my children in their jobs and careers.

(102 posts)I'm sure those two didn't personally pay for their testing. I'm sure those two are still getting paid full salary while they're in quarantine. We know they don't have to worry about paid medical leave or extended unemployment insurance.
Therefore, using their twisted logic, there's no need to provide those to anyone else.

(507 posts)ever since Donald plopped his fat ass in the White House, but I never read the replies because I know what the answer will be. Fortunately, for the long term, and unfortunately for the short term, he knows he is highly unpopular in Colorado, and I think that's why he's so tightly glued to Donald's fat ass, hoping he'll at least get some favors from Donald if he (Drumpf) is re-elected.

(2,030 posts)I just called mine, even though it always feels like an exercise in futility when I call our state's Republican senator. He is so far up Rump's rump, he can see Dear Leader's dentures.
But if enough of us call, the Republican senators might feel a tiny scintilla of fear for their own reelection and vote to pass the bill being put forward by Nancy and the rest of the House Dems.
It's just SO galling that Trump is seizing on this moment to slip in another tax cut for the wealthy and a payroll tax rate cut. The payroll cut would essentially destroy Social Security and Medicare, while doing next to nothing to help low-income workers, according to this LA Times article:
